"Wedding Flowers"
“Wedding Flowers” oil on canvas
Private Collection
This was a commission for a grandmother whose gran-daughter was getting married. The really special thing about this was she had kept the flowers from her daughters wedding 25 years ago and dried them. I used these very flowers to frame the photo. They are real flowers!
A Boy Named Woods
Oil on canvas 36x20 PRIVATE COLLECTION
A family from South Carolina asked me to paint their grandson. What an honor it was. I have never seen Woods but the more I painted him, the more I adored him. Having 3 sons and 5 grandsons myself, I have a soft spot for boys. See Legacy Paintings
Beverly Hills Woman
Oil on Canvas 24x18 PRIVATE COLLECTION
This is not my original design as it's a painting that hangs in the foyer of the famed Beverly Hills Hotel. I loved it so much that I had to do my own version of it. I love the 1920-30's dress style and the abstract feel. This painting is not for sale
Mother and Son
Oil on Board 18 x 12 Santa Monica
This painting I've called "Mother and Son".
The mother in the picture is a beautiful soul who with her husband live in Santa Monica. Two week before I painted this picture, the son was killed in a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles. Words failed me so from a photo I decided to paint and there I rediscovered the saying, "a picture paints a thousand words". See Legacy Paintings
Pompeii Statue
Oil and Acrylic on Canvas 20x16 PRIVATE COLLECTION
I get my inspiration from the strangest of places. This is a portion of an ancient statue that exhibited in world museums telling the story of Pompeii. I loved the profile of it so I decided to contrast it to a total black background. It turned out with a sepia look.
Sunflowers for Sarah
Oil on board 20x16 PRIVATE COLLECTION
I had the pleasure of being the celebrant for Sarah and Louie's wedding. Sarah had this photo of herself touching these sunflowers. An amazing moment captured on camera then captured in oils. The pose, the tilt, the long flowing hair on a summers day doing nothing but enjoying God's beauty. This is a legacy painting capturing the last days leading up to her marriage. Something that will always remind Sarah of that pivotal moment in her life.
The Father's Shadow
Oil on Canvas 24x18 PRIVATE COLLECTION
These two little boys are actually 2 of my 5 grandsons, Houston and Benjamin. Their dad took this photograph late one afternoon as he was walking behind them. When I saw the photo I instantly felt a deeper message. I called it "The father's shadow" to represent two things. One is that these two little boys will always have their father watching over them. He's never going to be far away. He is a wonderful father and I know his love for his sons. But secondly, there is another father whose shadow is always close to all of us and that's God. The father God is always watching over you. If you look for it, his shadow is nearby... See Legacy Paintings
"Raised Hands"
“Raised Hands” – this oil painting is of Erwin McManus. He is the leader at Mosaic, an amazing millennials faith community in Hollywood, Los Angeles which we have been a part of for a year now. What can I say about Erwin McManus? Unique, prodigy, honest, humble, passionate and perhaps even an iconoclast but for all the right reasons. Every week people 'raise their hands' to signify making a decision about their lives. What an amazing happening and what an incredible man!
