LEGACY PAINTINGS
Legacy paintings offer the special attention necessary to paint someone's 'life painting'...
- the house you were raised in, that special person, the place you were married, a favorite holiday spot, that special place that is filled with beautiful memories, pets and children.
You can commission Grant to paint a family legacy painting from any photo and turn it in to a beautiful painting that will become a lasting legacy for any family.
"some of the most touching moments has been when someone has received a legacy painting that captures important memories that will be past down to generations to come. I give these paintings and the clients all the detailed attention they deserve. I like to complete these paintings with a plaque of the title on the frame". Grant
"SUN VALLEY IDAHO"
"What a joy to our hearts today to receive this beautiful painting in the mail from the amazing artist and our good friend Grant Windle! Sun Valley Idaho has always been a special place for our family and he captured our legendary drive into Sun Valley perfectly! Thank you Grant for making our tradition an everyday memory." A BOY NAMED WOODS
Oil on canvas 36x20 South Carolina
Friends from South Carolina for over 30 years asked me to paint their grandson. What an honor it was. I have never seen Woods but the more I painted him, the more I adored him. Having 3 sons and 5 grandsons myself, I have a soft spot for boys.
SUNFLOWERS FOR SARAH
Oil on board 12x12 Los Angeles
I had the pleasure of being the celebrant for Sarah and Louie's wedding. Sarah had this photo of herself touching these sunflowers. An amazing moment captured on camera then captured in oils. The pose, the tilt, the long flowing hair on a summers day doing nothing but enjoying God's beauty. This is a legacy painting capturing the last days leading up to her marriage. Something that will always remind Sarah of that pivotal moment in her life. This painting
MOTHER AND SON
Oil on Board 18 x 12 Santa Monica
This painting I've called "Mother and Son".
The mother in the picture is a beautiful soul who with her husband live in Santa Monica. Two week before I painted this picture, he son was killed in a motorcycle accident here in Los Angeles. Words failed me so from a photo I decided to paint and there I rediscovered the saying, "a picture paints a thousand words".
Ci Ci Couchios says…
" I cannot put into words how much this painting means to me. I lost my son two months ago and posted this photograph on Facebook with the wording that is shown on the painting. Imagine my surprise and awe when I was presented with this amazing work of art. I was completely moved to tears of gratitude and grief combined. Every detail is perfect and the artist is a true treasure of a person to know. To you, Grant, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I thank God that our paths have crossed.
Pam Neighbor of Burbank CA says about her painting...
"What Grant painted is truly a family legacy portrait. He captured 20+ years of some of our most memorable years in the life of my family. He painted a picture of my parent’s home at 1492 Sleepy Hollow in Canton, Texas. We entitled the portrait “The Swing” because one of the outstanding features of the painting is an old rope swing my Dad made for the grandkids. Hours upon hours were spent swinging on that swing in their huge front yard. I can still hear the kids yelling and screaming with delight as they took their turn. Our kids are now adults; but, they still cherish the memories of those years.
This portrait hangs in our den over our fireplace. It demands immediate attention as you walk into the room. It is a focal point of conversation for our family as we re-live the memories and re-visit the legacy left by my parents at 1492 Sleepy Hollow. Thank you, Grant for your skill in painting such a portrait for us. We are even more grateful that you captured a scene for us which will love on forever ~ from one generation to another."
THE SWING
Oil on canvas 36x24 Burbank
This painting represents the childhood home of someone who lived in Canton Texas. They asked that the focus include a swing because as a child she spent many hours playing there with her siblings. The little details such as the rows of red and yellow flowers were very important to her because her father planted these flowers every year. They hung the painting over their fireplace and have found it to be a constant source of joy-filled memories. Capturing memories! That's the power of a painting.
PICASSOS VIOLIN AND GRAPES
Acrylic on canvas 72x48 Culver City
The canvas was so big I had to Uber it home in an SUV. This is not my original design, it is a famous Picasso from his Cubism period. I saturated the colors compared to Picasso's verison but the design is a masterpiece creation. This was done for a friend who just bought a house in Culver City and wanted a centerpiece over his fireplace.
MUSIC AND FRIENDS
Acrylic on canvas 60x40 Portland Oregon
This person has two amazing grown children named Daniel and Esther. They are both very musical so I incorporated their names with the musical instruments to create this design. It's earthy tones sit beautifully in the entrance to their Happy Valley, mountain home against the oak flooring and amazing views of Pine trees and Mt.Hood.
VENICE
Oil on canvas 36x24 South Carolina
This painting of Venice was commissioned from someone in South Carolina who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary right at this spot. They provided me the photograph and wanted the colors saturated. it made a stunning legacy painting.
THE FATHER'S SHADOW
These two little boys are actually 2 of my 5 grandsons, Houston and Benjamin. Their dad took this photograph late one afternoon as he was walking behind them. When I saw the photo I instantly felt a deeper message. I called it "The father's shadow" to represent two things. One is that these two little boys will always have their father watching over them. He's never going to be far away. He is a wonderful father and I know his love for his sons. But secondly, there is another father whose shadow is always close to all of us and that's God. The father God is always watching over you. If you look for it, his shadow is nearby...
HAPPY VALLEY
Oil on canvas 36 x 24 Happy Valley, Oregon
This is the view from a house in Happy Valley. But progress is around the corner and one day soon this beautiful old acreage will join suburbia. This legacy painting will be with them long after the view has gone as a permanent reminder of the years of memories looking at this view.
POPPIES ON BLUE
Oil on canvas 30x24 San Diego
I painted this bright colorful poppies to capture the personality of the person it was painted for. Someone who will always brighten up your day and her name is Tammi.
"We love our painting by Grant. The beautiful flowers and bright background put a smile on the faces of everyone we share the painting with. It is honoring to be given someone's very personal gift of their talent, time and skill. Jerry & I enjoy the thoughtfulness in this painting and the reminder to be thoughtful ourselves." Tammi Mckinney
IRELAND
Oil on canvas 20x16 Vancouver, Washington
There are times in a person's life when we lose those we love though they be in God's arms. This amazing person had just lost her husband and this legacy painting was of her home country Ireland. The deep greens, the waves pounding the rock cliffs making a spray, and the thatch roof houses with sheep pens. Sometimes we just need to go home!
ROGER AND PAT'S OLD HWY STOP
Oil on cnavas 36x20 Boiling Springs, South Carolina
Roger and Pat wanted a legacy painting featuring their names. They wanted bright colors with a nostalgic feel and this was the end result. I worked off an image they chose.
"I would highly recommend Grant Windle to paint a picture of a memory for you. We have a coffee house like Kitchen and I asked him to paint me a coffee house cafe like picture, he said find me what you want and I'll paint it.. So I went on a search.. Not only did we find the right picture we changed it . We own the cafe with our name above it .the bakery next door to coffee house . States 1946 that is the year we were born. can paint it as close to original or personal. He is a great painter..." Pat Gosnell, Spartanburg, South Carolina
LOVE
Acrylic on Canvas 4x 20x16 PRIVATE COLLECTION
Not my original design but I painted these 4 letters on separate canvases for someone's wedding backdrop. After the wedding was over they now have them over their bed forever. A constant reminder in years to come of that amazing day that they stood under these letters and committed their lives to one another.
'RAISED HANDS'
I set out to paint about a man and his purpose. The man is Erwin McManus and the purpose is Mosaic. Erwin leads this faith community in Hollywood. Every Sunday there is an amazing happening on the cnr of Labrea and Hollywood blvd. Thousands of Los Angeles millennials pack out Mosaic to music and conversation. Lives are changed and dreams birthed.
"Spitfire over Dover" oil on canvas
Now in the collection of legendary New Zealander - John Steele, who is a war memorabilia collector. I wanted to capture the spitfire over the white cliffs of Dover. So I superimposed a couple of photographs to create the image I wanted.
